Lawyers For Long -Term Care

Who We are

We are a group of lawyers advocating for Ontario Seniors and supporting long-term care change and accountability.

WHEREAS

  • there is a crisis in  care for Ontario residents in long-term care;
  • there is a lack of funding, regulation, standards, monitoring, accountability and enforcement to ensure that the most vulnerable are well-cared for; and
  • the work of lawyers  providing services to the those individuals in long-term care

Our Mandate

An unincorporated association of lawyers, called Lawyers for Long-Term Care is formed with the following mandate:

  1. To provide a voice for lawyers and other supporters advocating legal reforms for persons living in long-term care.
  2. To assist other organizations with similar mandates, to develop legislation, regulation, and regulatory policy, in advocating reforms for long- term care, including:
  • technical assistance
  • education and training
  • communications and government relations
  • governance and board development
  • project management and financial access
